When you have decided on the topic, begin your research and compile the notes together. Use these notes while making the rough drafts of your paper. Make two or three drafts, as would provide you with ample variety for your project. Remember the following:
- Formatting: If you will be printing out your paper, you should type in Times New Roman, with font size 12. The heading should be typed in font 14. If you are writing the paper by hand, always use blank ball point pen.
- Purpose: Mention the purpose of your assignment on the first page that carries your name, assignment name, and your department name along with your year.
- Acknowledgement: Contrary to popular belief, the acknowledgement page comes before you begin writing the actual assignment.
- Introduction: Briefly introduce the subject you would be working on, and then go on to the main assignment. Assume that your reader knows about the assignment, so just provide a brief overview. Do not delve into the topic deeply.
- Writing: While writing the assignment, bear the following things in mind: i. You're writing an economics paper. Use short precise sentences. There is no need for writing flowery, complex sentences. Use the correct terms. Check and re-check to make sure you have the correct terms noted. Use the correct tense. Do not mix up your tenses. If it's an experiment you're writing about, use the past tense to describe your actions and the inferences. Proofread your paper to find any errors that might have occurred while typing. Remember to draw relevant diagrams with a pencil. Label the parts necessary. Collected statistic data, should also be on the left.
- Conclusion: Writing the conclusion is perhaps the most difficult part. It would be best to summarize what you had been talking about, and the final conclusion that you have arrived at.
- Bibliography: It is natural you have referred to different websites and books and journals while writing your paper. So, add those in your bibliography. Try to site the exact web pages and the exact pages of the books you have referred to.
