Tips on writing a mass communication paper (by Nina Wallace, Apr 09, 2012)
But for a mass communication essay, you would need:
- Research: The keyword to writing any good paper is research. It is a good idea to being your research prior to the actual the day when you are to hand in your work. If you neglect it till the last minute, you would probably find yourself in more trouble than your originally thought possible. Mass communication would provide you with a lot of things to write about, and to research about. If you think of it along the right tracks, you would obviously have an interesting time writing the paper.
- Collecting and compiling: The next step would be to collect these materials, and compile them in a way, so that it is easy for you to refer to it while writing the actual essay. Once again, it is advisable to have this done way before you begin with the essay.
- Drafting: Do not begin writing the main essay before making a few rough drafts of the essay. In this way, you will provide yourself with a variety of ways to write the essay in.
- Write: When you begin writing the mass communication essay, you should bear certain things in mind:
Address the question that is asked: don't just ramble on for pages or waste your time telling your professor about the literature of your topic. They are not interested to know about the history of the subject.
Quality not quantity: The quality of the essay, whatever subject, is far more important than the quantity.
Use data: A paper on this subject would require research; therefore do use the data you have collected as that would help your instructor understand your paper better.
Be concise: Do remember that this is a mass communication essay that you are writing. There is no need to write flowery language. Use short, simple sentences which would help to make your point with the reader of the essay.
Correct tense: Be careful while writing the essay, and do not get your tenses mixed up. If it's a lab report your writing, it is wiser to use the past tense. Using incorrect tense or even getting it mildly mixed up creates a negative impression.
Revise: Check for any kind of errors (grammatical or technical) - and correct it.
