Geology paper is not a place to demonstrate one's skill in the English language proficiency but to show his or her teacher or professor, they able to do research work and produce a good paper.

  1. Research: This is the keyword to any successful paper. It would help you in the long run, as whatever you study while doing your research is bound to stay in your mind longer.

  2. Compilation: Once you have finished collecting all the relevant notes, compile them together - so that the material is close at hand for you.

  3. Drafting: It is better to make two or even three drafts, before starting the actual project or paper. That leaves you with ample choices to work on.

  4. Formatting: Now, it depends whether you are writing the paper by hand or printing it out. For printouts, it would best to use Times New Roman, font size 12, with the heading in font size 14. If you write by hand, use a black ink as it is more formal than a blue one. If it is interleaf sheets you are working with, the diagrams, or the samples, always come on the left. These should be neatly made and labeled. The writing is on the right.

  5. Introduction: Begin your paper with a brief overview of what you are working on. Then move on to the main body of the paper. Chose your words carefully in this section. It is what you decide to write about here, determines the course of the rest of your paper.

  6. Address the question: No matter what you maybe knowing about the topic, write only the relevant information. You need to address the question. If you ramble on for pages, and not write about the real topic, your hard work would go to waste.

  7. Writing: While writing the paper, it would be wiser to use simple language through which you can express yourself. You do not need to write big words only impress your instructor. He or she would be more pleased with a carefully worked out paper.

  8. Conclusion: Say how you have benefited from working on this particular paper.

  9. Little details count: Be neat in your presentation. Avoid making silly mistakes, and always proofread your paper before submission.
